These programs are a great pathway for our cadets who are exploring the service academy option, and for cadets looking for an extra challenge. All summer programs will count for Advanced Training credit. West Point’s Middle School STEM program will be available for NLCC AT credit only. US Naval Academy trainings (NASS and STEM) are eligible for refunds at this time. We will notify the field if funding will be available for the remaining academy programs. We didn't want to miss this chance to thank you for the all the hard work you've already put in to making Sea Cadets a success in 2021. Thank you for all you do, every day, for our cadets and for this program. We know this past year has been one of constant change, and many new policies and procedures have been thrown at you. We are working on a "Quick Start" guide for our adult volunteers, to summarize and consolidate in one place the steps that will make it easy for you to catch up and feel ready for the year ahead. Updated NWU Type III Uniforms from Trooper: Back-ordered items: are expected to arrive at Trooper in mid-March. Units should expect to receive back-ordered items starting in early April. Uniforms available for purchase: Trooper will receive new inventory in mid-March. We will notify the field as soon as that's available. In the meantime, we are pleased to offer to all units the opportunity to access leftover inventory, at no cost to the unit except applicable shipping charges. Monthly Drill: Did you know that Operation Trident Watch broadcast is full of interactive activities? Yep, it's true. In addition to all the online challenges, we will be having a good old fashioned Knot Tying Lesson and an East Coast vs. West Coast Knot Tying Competition. This activity will take place during the final hour of the broadcast so everyone will be able to participate live. We are back !! If you are interested in having a child (ages 10-17) learn about firearm safety and learn to shoot in a controlled and supervised environment, bring them down on Friday night from 7pm-9pm. At a cost of $10 for the entire year, children will get the use of .22 cal. bolt action rifles, shooting jackets, eye and ear protection and ammo. Open to the public. The 2021 STEM and Summer Seminar Applications are now open and will close on March 31st! Information about session dates and cost are as follows:
Summer STEM: June 7-12: Current 8th graders/rising 9th June 14-19: Current 9th graders/rising 10th June 21-25: Current 10th graders/rising 11th Program fee: $900 Participant selection ~280 per session Summer Seminar: All Sessions: Current 11th graders/rising 12th June 5-10/ June 12-17/ June 19-24 Program fee: $650 Participant selection ~850 per session Admissions for STEM and Summer Seminar are done on a rolling basis so we recommend completing the application as early as possible! There is no fee to apply and we offer need-based scholarships. Selection for scholarships takes place after the applicant has been accepted to the program. Both the STEM and Summer Seminar application can be found on this link. Advanced Training: National Headquarters is pleased to announce that the advancement credit cap on virtual trainings has been lifted and all virtual trainings will be allowed for advancement. Cadets will no longer be limited to virtual trainings in their promotion matrix. HOMEPORT: Publications revisions and new form templates: Recent updates and/or revisions have been made to the following publications on Homeport: The Marksmanship Training Policy, the Awards Manual, and the 2021 Liability Insurance Policy. MAGELLAN Update: The Unit Demographics page now has a field to input your unit-level fees for new enrollments, renewals, and uniforms. As the first step toward accepting credit and debit card payments from parents for enrollment, we need to collect this information.
