All cadets attending the SOC Brian R. Bill Memorial event on 3 June 2024 will muster at the Woodway Country Club, 540 Hoyt St, Darien CT 06820 at 1700 (5:00 pm). The color guard will practice prior to the start of ceremonies and dinner scheduled for 1800 (6:00 pm). Uniform is Dress White.
Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Brian R. Bill
Brian was an elite level Navy SEAL who, in his abbreviated 31 years of living, accomplished more than most do in a lifetime. He was deployed on multiple occasions and his heroism was recognized by numerous combat awards including four Bronze Stars with valor. He spoke multiple languages, climbed some of the world's highest mountains, and was an Eagle Scout, pilot, skydiver, musician and triathlete. On August 6, 2011, a Chinook helicopter, call sign Extortion 17, was shot down by enemy fire in Afghanistan ending the lives of 30 American military men and one working dog on board. Brian was one of 17 SEALs aboard that helicopter.
