Cadet Notes
- Drill: We will drill 5, 12, 27 May 2024. No drill on Monday 20 May as we will have drilled the weekend prior for several events. Monday May 27th is the New Canaan Memorial Day Parade and will count as drill. We will prepare for all our events in May, inspect our Dress White uniforms and prepare for Recruit Training (RT), Navy League Orientation (NLO) and Advanced Training (AT).
- Advanced And Recruit Training: Now is the time to start looking for summer training. Parents have to initiate the request for trining via the parent portal.
- PRT: If you still need to pass the PRT, arrive ready to take it.
- Memorial Day Parades and Ceremonies: We will march at the Stamford and New Canaan Memorial Day parades and attend the following ceremonies. Uniform is Dress White for both events. This year the Stamford parade is a week earlier. May drills will be dedicated to ensuring cadet uniforms conform to regulations. See our Memorial Day webpage for detailed information. These parades are all-hands.
- Flag Planting: We will plant American flags at veterans graves in advance of Memorial Day. We will muster at Saint John Cemetery in Darien, CT on Saturday 18 May at 0800 in NUWs. See the Memorial Day Events webpage for full details. Max participation is encouraged and community service awarded.
- Yacht Club Commissioning: Designated cadets will participate in the Halloween and Stamford Yacht Club Commissioning ceremonies. A color guard is required for the Stamford Yacht Club. See the Memorial Day Events webpage for full details.
- Brian Bill Dinner: We will again provide the color guard for the SOC Brian R. Brill Golf Tournament and Dinner on Monday 3 June at the Woodway Country Club in Darien. A dedicated table for cadets will be provided free of charge. Indicate if you are interested and see details in the Brian Bill webpage.
- Division Graduation: Save the date for our graduation ceremony on Monday, 10 June during our normal drill period. This is our chance to recognize our graduating seniors and announce the new division and training ship leadership. Uniform will be Dress White. Visit the Graduation webpage for details.
- Naval Academy CSTS: The Naval Academy’s Command and Seamanship Training Squadron will make port call at the Stamford Yacht Club from 13 to 14 July. This is a great opportunity for mentoring. See the Navy Weekend webpage for details.
