PRT - 14 April 2025
Physical Readiness Test: Monday, 14 April 2025
  • Our spring Physical Readiness Test (PRT) will be Monday, 14 April, during our regular drill. The back-up date will be the following Monday, TBD April.
  • Uniform will the physical training (PT) gear which is the official USNSCC shorts and t-shirt. There is a new version of the PT uniform just announce and available for purchase. Either the old or new style is authorized for wear. If you have the old version you do not have to get the new one. The Division can procure the items at a wholesale cost of approximately $11 versus the retail price of $21. Please let us know the size you want and we can order for you with reimbursement to the Division via Venmo.
  • Be ready! Planks have replaced curl-ups. Don’t assume that it’s easy; start practicing now.
  • Everyone needs to  pass a PRT for advancement and to attend Training.

  • PRT can no longer be done at home, which was a COVID policy.

Physical readiness levels are now identified by number, and a new standard has been created between failure (level 1) and satisfactory (level 3).
  • Progressing (level 2) acknowledges a level of fitness that while unsatisfactory is close enough that a cadet could improve and reach satisfactory (level 3) in a reasonable amount of time.
  • The standards for satisfactory (level 3), good (level 4), and excellent (level 5) have not changed.
  • Level 2 establishes a reasonable benchmark for new cadets.

PRT scoring terminology will be changed to use level of performance rather than descriptors:
  1. Level 1: Cadet’s performance is well below Sea Cadet expectations, and cadet would require significant intervention and additional time to improve.
  2. Level 2: Considered entry-level standard (first 6-12 monthsRegardless of rank, cadets are automatically assigned to a remedial/fitness training program at this level. The minimum requirement for advancement to Seaman Apprentice. Minimum level required to attend and pass RT. o Not a qualifying level for AT
  3. Level 3: Cadet expectations after the first year in the program. Cadet may attend AT​. Required for advancement to Seaman and above
  4.  Level 4: Cadet qualifies for the PT Ribbon
  5.  Level 5: Cadet qualifies for the “E” appurtenance
