Time: 1900
Uniform: Navy Working Uniform (NWU) Type III

  1. We will continue discussing Wreaths Across America and plan for the Holiday Dinner.
  2. Cadets who wish to attend winter training should be ready to talk about their desires.
  3. Physical Readiness Test (PRT) for those who have not completed or must retake. Wear PT Uniform (only cadets who will take the PRT) with some type of outer garment (sweats/fleece) to stay warm before and after. Bring at towel. 
  4. 2022 Winter Training Guidance has been published and available on Homeport accessible via Quarterdeck. Document is linked below as well. There are winter trainings already posted so take a look.

  1. We will drill Monday, 21 November. Those cadets who attended the Basket Brigade are excused but are encouraged to attend as we have a returning cadet who will talk about his first year college experience.
  2. We will continue discussing Wreaths Across America and plan for the Holiday Dinner.

  • 25 Nov 1961- -USS Enterprise (CVAN 65), the U.S. Navy's first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, is commissioned in Newport News, Va.

Plan of the Day 19 November 2022

DEALEY Division will participate in Bridgeport's Basket Brigade. This event prepares and distributes Thanksgiving meal baskets to needy families and veterans. We will provide traffic control but will assist in building and distributing baskets as required. It will be cold. See note 4 and come prepared. We will be outdoors most of the time.
  1. Date: Saturday, November 19, 2022.
  2. Muster: 0800.
  3. End of event: 1300-1400. Keep checking this page and your email for updates. 
  4. Uniform: NWU Type III with black fleece, black thermal mock t-shirt, black wool hat and black gloves. We will issue these items as they are available. Cadets can use alternatives for the thermal shirt, hat and gloves as long as they are the correct color and style.
  5. Location: Public Works Facility, 581 N. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, 06604. Cadets can be dropped off and picked up at the end of the event.
  6. Weather: Sunny, with a high near 42. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. Southwest wind 6 to 11 mph. Wx link.

  1. We will drill Monday, 24 October and conduct the Physical Readiness Test (PRT) for those who have not completed or must retake. Wear PT Uniform with some type of outer garment (sweats/fleece) to stay warm before and after. Bring at towel. The rain should stop by drill time.​
  2. Tonight we will also prepare for upcoming events to include Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony on Sunday 6 November, Basket Brigade on Saturday 19 November and Wreaths Across America on Saturday 17 December. We will discuss whether to drill on Monday 31 Oct which is Halloween.
  3. Cadets are encouraged to participate in a survey regarding ways to make drill more challenging, fun and engaging. Click here. Survey Closes 31 October.

  1. We will drill Monday, 17 October and conduct the Physical Readiness Test (PRT). Wear PT Uniform with some type of outer garment (sweats) to stay warm before and after. Bring at towel. The forecast is light rain but hoping it will be dry enough to run the PRT. We will make a decision at the start of drill. If too rainy we will field day our spaces and conduct the PRT next week.​

  1. ​No Drill Monday 10 October in observance of Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day.
  2.  Any Cadet who needs to come to base must pre-arrange through the chain of command. Do not just show up. Civilian clothing is fine. A parent must be with you.
  3. Physical Readiness Test on 17 October. Final week to prepare.

  • 10 October 1985 - Navy F-14's launch from USS Saratoga (CV 60), intercept an Egyptian 737 airliner over international waters, and direct it to Sigonella, Sicily. The airliner was carrying four Middle Eastern terrorists who hijacked the Italian cruise ship Achille Lauro Oct. 7 and murdered a U.S. citizen. The hijackers are taken into custody.

  1. ​Presentation Night at the Stamford Yacht Club.
  2. Dress Blue/Winter Dress Uniform. Ensure you have all you components to include, cover, neckerchief/lanyard, ID, name tag and ribbon rack.
  3. Please arrive early to set up and prepare for our event.
  4. No drill on Monday 10 October in observance of Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day.
  5. Physical Readiness Test on 17 October. 2 final weeks to prepare.
​​This week in Naval History
  • 30 September 1955 - USS Saipan (CVL 48) begins disaster relief in Tampico, Mexico, rescuing people and delivering supplies after three consecutive hurricanes struck the area. Operations end Oct. 10, 1955.
  • 30 September 1962 - Sigma 7 (Mercury 8) is launched. The mission is piloted by Cmdr. Walter M. Schirra, Jr., and lasts nine hours and 13 minutes. Cmdr. Schirra makes six orbits at an altitude up to 175.8 statute miles at 17,558 mph. Recovery is conducted by USS Kearsarge (CVS 33).

  1. ​Opening quarters outside, no color guard as we will be in dress uniform. We will start promptly at 1900 so please arrive early to set up.
  2. Dress Blue Uniform inspection tonight.
  3. We will continue to work on Presentation Night practice scheduled for Monday 3 October at the Stamford Yacht Club.
  4. BRING in your SERVICE JACKETS. Additionally bring in  your original CERTIFICATES so we can scan and present to you to keep.
  5. Visit the VFW's Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen webpage for Youth Scholarships. You are highly encouraged to compete and we will help you find a local VFW to enter your submission.

  • 30 September 1954 - The world's first nuclear-powered submarine, USS Nautilus (SSN 571), is commissioned at Groton, Conn. On Aug. 3, 1958, she is the first U.S. vessel to transit across the geographic North Pole. Nautilus now serves as the historic ship at the Submarine Force Museum at Groton.

  1. ​Normal opening quarters outside. We will start promptly at 1900 so please arrive early to set up.
  2. Wear your NWU Type III uniform. Sleeves rolled up if you wish. Bring any uniform items that do not fit for replacement tonight, especially dress blue uniform needed for Presentation Night.
  3. BRING in your SERVICE JACKETS. Additionally bring in  your original CERTIFICATES so we can scan and present to you to keep.
  4. We will prepare for Presentation night, firmly scheduled for Monday 3 October at the Stamford Yacht Club in Dress Blue / Winter Dress. Please collect any digital or print pictures of your training so we can have them available during your presentation.
  5. At 2000 will join in on a Marksmanship Webinar. See below link to the Marksmanship Training Policy and FAQ.
  6. We will take care of as many administrative tasks as possible.

​​This week in Naval History
  • 18 September 2008 - USNS Carl Brashear (T-AKE 7) is christened and launched at San Diego, Calif. The dry cargo ship provides ammunition, food, repair, parts, stores and small quantities of fuel for the U.S. Marine Corps. The ship is named for Master Chief Carl Brashear, the first African American Master Diver in the U.S. Navy and the first amputee to be recertified as a diver after amputation.
  • 19 September 1957 - Bathyscaphe Trieste, in a dive sponsored by the Office of Naval Research in the Mediterranean, reaches a record depth of two miles. Three years later, Trieste would set a new record of seven miles on Jan. 23, 1960.
