Summer Training Brief Recap from January 19 2025 Zoom
Summer Trainings are in full swing planning stages. We will have multiple opportunities throughout the Northeast Field Area. Although still in the submittal phase, we are confident that there are no foreseeable reasons that our training proposals will not go live in Magellan around March 17th. This is not a complete list as some training sites are still having contract specifics worked out but this is a great start.
Norfolk, VA - State Military Reservation
- RT - June 25 - July 3
- NLO - June 27 - July 3
- POLA - June 27 - July 3 - Leadership and Guidance of Cadets, practice drill leadership, functional guidance, giving and receiving feedback, focus on reporting up and down the chain with official information, managing emotions
- Culinary (NSCC) - June 25 - July 3 cooking meals for contingent, kitchen management, stations, rotation of leadership
- Culinary (NLCC) - June 27 - July 3 - basic level of kitchen awareness, cleaning, service, how to set up formal settings
- Honors & Ceremonies (NSCC) - June 28 - July 3 - official Navy Honors and Ceremonies guidance, practice of drill team performance basics
- Honors & Ceremonies (NLCC) - June 28 - July 3 - official Navy Honors and Ceremonies guidance, learn to lead NLCC cadets in official events
- NSCC Basic Airman - June 28 - July 3 - Work with VFA 106 at NAS Oceana
- Military Sealift Command Basic - July 13-17 - introduction to being a merchant mariner
- Military Sealift Command Intermediate - July 13-17 - certificates for credentialing
Also in the works are training opportunities on several levels for the International Naval Review. (INR) more on that later in the brief.
Ft DIx, Ft Dix New Jersey
This summer, SCTC-MDL will be hosting the following trainings:
- Recruit Training (RT)
- Petty Officer Leadership Academy (POLA)
- Independent Duty Master-at-Arms (IDMAA)
- Emergency Management & Force Readiness (EMFR)
- A new advanced course introducing cadets to emergency preparedness, disaster response concepts, force protection, and readiness operations modeled after real-world emergency management frameworks.
- Search & Rescue Medical Technician (SMT)
- A medically oriented advanced training focused on first aid, patient assessment, rescue techniques, and field medical readiness. This course prepares cadets for roles supporting medical and SAR operations.

International Naval Review (INR) - one in a lifetime. Not offered again until 2051. NOT FLEET WEEK. The only way to earn the ribbon is attending one of the Magellan offered events or trainings. No other events are eligible.

All ports will have single day event options from 8-3 each day.
We are working on AT at some ports. More info as it becomes available. As of now, it appears that Norfolk is tentatively confirmed as a site.
Also working on embarquements: Norfolk to Baltimore, Baltimore to NY, NY to Boston. Transportation to and from receiving and departing ports will be the responsibility of the participant. No travel reimbursements offered. More info to follow. EO opportunities for each embarquement as well.
USNA:
One day event in Feb for Leaguers Feb 28
Two day event in June - 16&17. Pick up drop off only each day. Great experience. Will be in Magellan
Officer/MIDN training in July 4days/3nights for STEM interest in teaching a class or an activity at the unit. Live on the Yard for the training. Room and board included. Officers only, no cadets. Must register in Magellan as well as the link provided in Magellan. 13-16 JUL
Please keep an eye on Magellan. We will be adding more trainings as they become available. Most trainings will officially open in Magellan in mid March. We do not anticipate any cancellations at this time. Do not register for more than one training in an allotted time frame. Please follow your chain of command with questions.
